Description

This one is supposed to dock with the central hub of 400ton Lab Ship / Ring Laboratory. According to the deckplans it is also of 6m diameter, so it's predestined to be constructed of the cutters front and modified rear section.

I actually never planned to do a lab ship, but I like the idea of building it just to complement the Research Pinnace.

I like that you've modelled the forward crew hatch as a solid panel, rather than as one of the ubiquitous Traveller iris valves. I've long had a problem with the iris valve on deckplans, because... well... how would it work in any location other than built into a flat deck surface?

The segments of the valve open out, rotating into the frame, fine... but that would only really work in a two-dimensional plane, surely.
